15 20 25 30 Traditional GSM roaming is defined in the GSM Association Permanent Reference Document AA.39 as the possibility for a mobile subscriber to automatically initiate and receive voice calls, send and receive data or to have access to other services while traveling outside the geographical coverage area of the HPLMN, using a Visited Network (VPLMN), using the same mobile phone and subscription procedures used to connect to the HPLMN. The traditional and simplest OTA updates of the mobile device or SIM or USIM are done by using a standard-based short message as a carrier technology, to send the OTA information or an update over a mobile network to the device or SIM. The use of SMS (Short Message Service) to carry such data generally works well, especially from a cost perspective, since mobile terminating short messages ("Terminating Short Messages") are typically not reported between roaming partners, and are not charged to the subscriber. Many OTA updates would require a confirmation from the device or from the SIM card. Standard Proof-of-Receipt Confirmation Concepts have been specified by ETSI / 3GPP for GSM 03.48 Remote File Management, to send a dedicated PoR from SIM to SIM-OTA platform, using a new short message in the opposite direction which carrier of PoR. The present invention solves this problem. The present invention relates to a method in mobile telecommunication systems using wireless (OTA, eng. “Over-The-Air”) provisioning of a SIM or USIM or a Mobile Equipment (ME), which needs to receive a reliable confirmation or acknowledgment of receipt from ME or SIM in an OTA provisioning that performed over the existing signaling interfaces, and is characterized by the fact that SIM or USIM or ME provides a standard-based USSD command (Unstructured Supplementary Services Data) as a result of successful or unsuccessful OTA provisioning, that the serving mobile network will be brought across a route Mobile Application Part (MAP) USSD message existing, configured SS7 domain to the home network (HPLMN) and to a USSD gateway device that is brought to forward the acknowledgment to the OTA platform. The present invention will be described in more detail below, together with exemplary embodiments of the invention and the accompanying drawings, in which - Figure 1 illustrates the present invention. Figure 1 illustrates a procedure in a mobile telecommunications network using OTA (Over-The-Air) provisioning of SIM or USIM or ME (Mobile Equipment), which need to receive a reliable acknowledgment or receipt (PoR). In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention, the USSD acknowledgment is caused to be sent back to ME, upon successful receipt, or upon selection and successful reading of a regular message to the mobile subscriber or user. In accordance with another preferred embodiment of the invention, the transmission conditions for sending or not sending said confirmation are preconfigured in ME or SIM or USIM. Alternatively, it is preferred that the transmission conditions for sending or not sending said confirmation be made to be part of the actual content of the message at the OTA protocol level, or as a sub-message at the carrier message-protocol level. In accordance with a further preferred embodiment, the message from an OTA platform or a user's ME to provision a SIM or a USIM or an ME (Mobile Equipment) is a short message (SM).
